What NFHS certification means NFHS is the National Federation of State High School Associations, the body that writes the playing rules for high school sports across the United States. Since the 1999 to 2000 season, any ball used in a sanctioned high school match has to carry the NFHS authenticating mark. To earn it, a ball is tested by an approved lab for size, rebound, shape retention and air pressure, then marked on the surface and the packaging.
